A thousand voices are louder than just one….
For too long, digital inclusion has struggled to be seen as a priority to funders and policy-makers. Meanwhile, those of you on the frontlines of your communities know that digital skills training paired with affordable hardware and connectivity options is crucial to lift our most disadvantaged, transform our cities and create opportunity. This is why we created the Connected Insights Data Trust.
The Digital Inclusion Data Trust was created by digital inclusion program veterans and is board-governed by digital inclusion veterans. The Data Trust is an effort to standardize program data collection and metrics. We can then easily combine those metrics securely while maintaining rigorous privacy. Our aim is to amplify the voice of the national digital inclusion community and quantify its impact, to support research and advocacy.
Through a national data trust, we can better compare best practices, identify needs, measure impacts, and see emergent trends. If you are a digital inclusion practitioner and are willing to share your program data with us, we will align it to ours and use it in aggregate to help promote a national advocacy perspective. We will never share a specific individual’s data, and will never use personally identifying information in the sharing of stories or descriptions of participants.
By using DITTO you are in a great position to opt-in to the Connected Insights Digital Inclusion Data Trust, but non-DITTO users can opt in as well. You can be a member of the data trust even if you are using another program like Sales Force. We will work with you to design a custom report template that works with your existing system. From here, we will integrate your data set with ours for analysis.
All Data Trust participants sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement. The system is housed on a virtual private server located in TierPoint's Dallas data center. This facility is audited under SSAE 18 SOC 2 Type II, PCI-DSS, GLBA and HIPAA standards annually and is ITAR and EU-US Privacy Shield registered. The data is protected by a SHA256RSA SSL encryption for all data in motion. Password data is protected in the database directly, at rest, using 1024 bit hashing.
One of the reasons we created DITTO is to fill the need for a strong, unified Digital Inclusion voice. While large programs funded by Google and other tech companies might get all the attention, we want to bring awareness to the hundreds of smaller community programs that are diligently working on this issue every day. This is our opportunity as a national community to start pulling our numbers together and showing how strong and impactful we are across the country.
